Online Dating for Christian Singles - Where do you start?

Author: Andy Cross

Once upon a time that was a difficult question to answer. When online dating first became the popular new way to meet people, there were no dating sites around which catered specifically for Christian Singles, let alone for people with any kind of spiritual beliefs.

Prior to the advent of the Internet, it was your local church or youth club which provided the means and facilities for Single Christians to congregate. For some, that is a tried and tested method which still works as well today as it did back then, but for a growing number of the Single Christian community, it is also a method which has too many limitations.

There is nothing wrong with the personal touch that meeting new people face-to-face provides and it's not healthy to remove visual communication altogether, far from it, the last thing we want is to become a bunch of faceless robots.

However, the Internet has advanced to such a degree that savvy programmers have produced Social Networking sites like MySpace, Facebook and Twitter to name a few, but in doing so, they have also encouraged the impersonal interaction which is now commonplace.

Obviously, Christian dating sites have been around longer than those above but the development of Web 2.0, as it's been dubbed, has contributed in no small way in making online dating the norm rather than the exception.

This is to the benefit of Single Christians everywhere, because the social limitations of the outside world I mentioned earlier, are no longer an issue and there is a more expansive reach to be utilized with online dating simply because you can now search nationwide for your ideal partner or globally if you so desire, without the need for accumulating thousands of miles in your car or by air.

Thankfully, there are fully fledged Christian dating sites too, so it is far easier for Single Christians to find one another in an environment where they can share similar values and beliefs without the fear of being judged.

It sounds easy, there's no reason why it should be difficult by the way, but there are genuine Christian dating websites around now, amongst all the fluff, that more than cater for the needs of someone who is deeply rooted in their faith and simply desires to share that with another person for the rest of their lives. You just need to know where to look.
